Spanning sculpture, installation, collage, drawing, video, and performance, London based artist Vlatka Horvat’s works frequently questions the precarious and contentious dynamics between bodies, physical objects, the built environment, and landscape. Her performances,– from the epic durational piece of rearranging chairs, ›This Here and That There‹ presented at the Zollverein complex in 2009, to the micro-focused systematic choreography of hands in her tabletop piece ›Once Over‹, – involve the manipulation of commonplace materials in the frame of a simple rule system. Her new piece ›Spillover‹ sees her return to the everyday frame of the tabletop, creating an unfolding work of gesture, object interaction, concealed and implied narratives in which complex ideas, limitations and possibilities are unpacked in playful ways.
