Legends & Rumours

  • Fri 28.03.14 20 h

›Legends & Rumours‹ brings together three very different performing artists, Phil Hayes, Maria Jerez and Thomas Kasebacher in an investigative collaborative process, on the hunt for new legends. What turns a banal occurrence into a momentous moment? How do stories become legends? With absurd sophistication and an unerring sense of timing, the trio explores what it takes for an event to acquire cult or even mythical status.

At times with discreet irony, at times with tragic foolishness, everyday events are given supreme historical importance until, through a paradoxical reversed chain reaction, it’s ultimately clear that the performance itself has to become a legend!

"In Legends and Rumours three performers spend a lot of time trying to adjust together a memory of an experience. Gesture for gesture, sentence for sentence they try to reconstruct the experience. But, it is also about how cheerfully memories can be turned into pranks. Above all, however, the woman and two men take rather banal occurences and lend to them unbelievable meaning … … Hayes, Jerez and Kasebacher deliver a joyous well made, well played performance. '" Helmut Ploebst, Der Standard.
