Nigel Charnock

... was born in Manchester in 1960 and studied drama for three years and then dance at the London School of Contemporary Dance. He founded the famous DV8 Physical Theatre group together with Lloyd Newson in 1986, and he has also written and directed plays for many European theatre companies and made choreographies for TV and film productions and rock concerts. Since the 1990s he has been performing as a soloist in Britain and on international tours. His best known solo works are Human Being, The Room and Fever, while his newest solo work Frank received its first premiere at the Venice Biennial in summer 2002. Nigel Charnock's works lie somewhere between dance and drama, unbound by the traditions of either discipline. They experiment with the form and the content and are often ironically entertaining and wildly funny, which has made them very popular in different countries.
