Benoît Lachambre

Benoît Lachambre is a choreographer, performer, improviser, and teacher who has been a part of the international dance community for the past thirty years. He danced for Marie Chouinard, Meg Stuart, and Jennifer Lacey before creating his own company in 1996. Christened Par B.L.eux, the Montreal-based company is devoted to contemporary and interdisciplinary choreographic creation. Lachambre is in demand as an artistic collaborator and has lent his signature to a great many projects. He is known for his exploratory approach to movement and its sources, and for seeking authenticity of motion and regularly leads workshops based on research, improvisation, and body consciousness. He has worked with choreographers including Lynda Gaudreau, Felix Ruckert, Catherine Contour, Boris Charmatz, Sasha Waltz, and Isabelle Schad, as well as visual artist Laurent Goldring. With Meg Stuart and her Brussels based company, Damaged Goods, and the composer and multi-instrumentalist Hahn Rowe, he co-created the highly acclaimed piece Forgeries, Love and Other Matters for which he won the prestigious Bessie Award in 2006. Lachambre last appeared at PACT Zollverein during the Ruhrtriennale Festival in 2008 in ›Is you me‹, with Louise Lecavalier.
