The relationship between self and other. Touching implies care but also distance. The distance between one’s own body and another is very much a part of our reality and something that we feel constantly. It is an insurmountable boundary and, at the same time, an important mirror. In his work, the Austrian choreographer Philipp Gehmacher poses very precise, fundamental questions – questions of dance and of human relationships in general. His movements connect the dancing body with the everyday body without ever generating simple, representative images.
