In an article in the French newspaper Libération, Anne Nguyen’s work was described as »a kind of b-boying performance in the style of Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker or a kind of breakdance integrating the concepts of William Forsythe«.
In ›À mon bel amour‹, the internationally acclaimed French-Vietnamese choreographer fluently navigates between the borders of diverse dance styles and combines them with casual elegance to question our perceptions of the individual, the couple and the collective, of identity and beauty.
Her eight virtuoso dancers reflect different cultural references, different archetypes, different perceptions of the self and of others. From classical ballet to voguing, krumping, popping, contemporary dance and waacking, their dance cultures and on-stage movements allude to fashion shows, photographic or cinematographic representations, the clubbing scene, theatre traditions, or to society's trappings.
