The director of a small and failing circus is a bully who unscrupulously exploits his artistes. Soon there are only three of them left to do everything from putting up the tent, selling the tickets, performing all the circus numbers to even playing the animals. Only the seemingly dim-witted clown tries to stand up to the director and think positively. Can he, in spite of everything, succeed in saving the circus....

The choreographer, Wilfried van Poppel, has created his latest dance theatre work, The Clown, especially with younger audiences in mind. The performances are open to school groups and, on request, the artist offers interested schools introductory sessions and support with related projects.
