The Essen based, Japanese artist Miyoko Urayama is working on the performance ›There is something between us‹, which examines the relationship between humans and to their environment. In the context of her Takeover residency, Miyoko Urayama explores the possibilities and impossibilities of physical proximity, of presence and absence, contact zones, borders, connections and intermediate spaces against the background of the pandemic. The result is a performance and installation that is a fusion of movements, objects and sound, integrating elements of physical theatre and techniques of Japanese Butoh dance.

Bei der Frühjahrsaktion auf dem Katernberger Markt, die rund um das Motto »Was ist eigentlich schön?« stattfand, kamen Katernberger:innen und Passant:innen zusammen. Gemeinsam mit dem Kollektiv Kurort Kuratorium gab es eine künstlerische Aktion zum Mitmachen. Im Kurlabor wurden mit Ruhe und Gelassenheit einzigartige Mosaike aus bunten und transparenten Acrylglas-Steinen gelegt, die bald in den Schaufenstern des Bezirks zu bewundern sind.

Rückblick: Yalda in bits and pieces

In der WerkStadt luden wir am 21.12. alle Interessierten ein, gemeinsam Yalda zu feiern und Rituale und Speisen kennenzulernen, die damit verbunden sind. Das Gericht Ash Reshteh, Granatäpfel, Wassermelonen, Nüsse und getrocknete Beeren gehören traditionell dazu. Gemeinsam wurden Gedichte gelesen, gekocht und gegessen. Alle, die das Fest zum ersten Mal feierten, lernten »How to Yalda!«

Rückblick: WerkStadt-Flohmarkt in Katernberg

Beim beliebten Stadtteil-Flohmarkt wurde am Sonntag (11.06.), auf dem Parkplatz vor der WerkStadt wieder verkauft, getauscht und gespielt. Bei einem bunten Programm mit Tombola, Workshops und Konzert kamen Freund:innen und Nachbar:innen zusammen.

Bright Cities, Colorful Walls – Streetart-Workshop für Kinder & Jugendliche

Bei bestem Wetter trafen sich am Samstag (27.05.) zehn Kinder und Jugendliche in der WerkStadt, um sich beim Workshop ›Bright Cities, Colorful Walls‹ unter Anleitung der Künstlerin Ursula Meyer mit dem Thema Graffiti auseinanderzusetzen. Das Ziel war es, die Unterführung der S-Bahn Haltestelle Zollverein Nord am Meybuschhof neu zu gestalten, welche freundlicherweise von der Deutschen Bahn im Sinne der Aufwertung und Belebung dieses Ortes zur Verfügung gestellt wurde.

Our residency in PACT was the second rehearsal period for the production ›What, Where, When are we?!‹ a work that sets out to explore the question of whether identity is rooted in one space and time. It is a rhythmical approach to transnational and multidimensional embodied experiences. Four performers on stage, live drums, and radio stations create sound layers that interweave with body memories.
