UNTER DEM BLICK DER SPHINX. – ARBEITEN MIT UND NACH HEINER MÜLLER.
With students from the Institute of Applied Theatre Studies at the University of Giessen as well as the Theatre Studies Department of the Ruhr University Bochum
What might theater-work, research, teaching and education look like if they were aimed toward a different, future form of theater? If the aim was perhaps an ›independent‹ theater, as so cryptically described by the playwright Heiner Müller in his text for Pina Bausch: ›It should not surprise us, that when we look freedom in the face, a sphinx returns our gaze.‹
To mark the Essen premiere of Laurent Chétouane’s ›Tanzstück # 2‹ students of Applied Theatre Studies present the results of their work with artists such as the director collective LISA from Amsterdam as well as Chétouane himself. The program also features discussion forums with Heiner Goebbels, Ulrike Haß, Nikolaus Müller-Schöll, Stefan Schroer and others.
