›Les écailles de la mémoire‹ (The scales of memory) is the first collaboration between choreographers Jawole Willa Jo Zollar of the United States and Germaine Acogny of Senegal and their respective companies – the 7 women of Urban Bush Women and the 7 men of Compagnie JANT-BI – that explores themes of memory, resistance and love. The piece highlights the visceral link between African Americans and Africans and delves into the chasms and similarities of gender, history and geography.
