CANTORI DI CARPINO

TARANTELLA DEL GARGANO

The Tarantella of Carpino is a form of tarantella music with an extraordinary contemporary feel that surpasses the pure roots of the traditional folk dance and is coloured by sublime forms of poetry and song. Brought to popular acclaim by two elderly vocalists, Antonio Maccarone and Antonio Piccininno, the legendary group Cantori di Carpino, have firmly tied the name of the small village of Carpino in southern Italy to the rebirth of traditional popular music.

Vocals and castanets: Antonio Piccininno

Vocals and French guitar: Antonio Maccarone

French guitar: Michele Basanisi

Dance and Tammorra (frame drum): Giuseppe Draicchio

Rhythm guitar and Tammorra: Nicola Gentile

Acoustic guitar: Giuseppe Di Mauro
