Photography
Bastian Hessler (D)
Bastian Hessler's photographs are taken almost exclusively on journeys. They seldom feature people and, without the help of a title, their locations are hard to identify. Bastian Hessler's motives are anonymous parking houses, deserted beaches or bare interiors. He doesn't stage his photographs but simply shows what's there to be seen in the first place and generally seems unremarkable. The cool reserved colours of his photos offer a sober take on reality.

GOALING LOOPS
Per Pegelow (D) & Sabine Lang (D)
The media project "Goaling Loops" is concerned with the global phenomena of football stadiums. All around the world football stadiums share, like airports and shopping centres, similar architecture. In principle, any arena anywhere could be exchanged for another - this does not however hold true for fans who are emotionally attached to the homes of their clubs. In a video installation, the audience can follow five simulated football games simultaneously in five different stadiums.

Laptop Performance (20 min)
KARL ORTMANN
dis.playce (D) - Maximilian Marcoll & Hannes Galette Seidl
Karl Ortmann's piece is a homage to the mapper of Ilmenau (1817 - 1879) who became known for his attempts to find a code to the social structures of cities in order to map them. His interest lay in revealing not merely the lifeless matter of buildings and streets that totally negates social any perspectives, but rather the relationship between people's living conditions and income circumstances and between population density and social standing. (from: Ortmann, Karl: Eine Einführung in die Sozialkartographie, Dresden 1864), S. 294.) zu erhellen.
The piece is composed entirely of sounds (such as street and traffic noise etc.) that were all recorded in a week in Karlsruhe. A series of recordings made during the night and morning of the German general election in 2005 build an important structural element in the work. Over a period of approx. 12 hours, recordings were made with two microphones in a residential area for three minutes every half an hour. This sound collage runs throughout the whole performance, at times inaudibly and at times clearly in the foreground.

ARBEITSTITEL (15 min)
Dance/Choreography: Sylvi Kretzschmar (D) & Camilla Milena Fehér (D)
Arbeitstitel (working title) is an exaggerated and kitsch celebration of work intoxicated by repetition. They are interested in the relationship between work and identity. The rehearsal room as a building site, on which nothing of material permanence is constructed or built, serves as a metaphor for work which is increasingly more of a product in itself rather than a means of production. People need work not only to earn a living but also to construct and express their identity.
