Saisoneröffnung auf Zollverein

  • Sun 02.04.23 11 h – 17 h

A brand-new season of cultural events including exhibitions, concerts, guided tours, culinary delights and many other exciting indoor and outdoor leisure activities, is soon to get underway at the »most beautiful colliery in the world«.

During the ever-popular occasion of the Season Opening at Zollverein, visitors can look forward to a host of free activities at both the Ruhr Museum and around the The Denkmalpfad Zollverein which comprises the above-ground facilities of the disused industrial complex which are still preserved in their original condition and have been part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2001.

Here at PACT, artist duo Senem Gökçe Oğultekin and Levent Duran are presenting a looped installation on the small stage of their latest filmic work ›VOID‹, which was created together with a cast of 17 people amidst the vast and apocalyptic landscape of the Welzow-Süd open-cast lignite mine in Niederlausitz.

Meanwhile on the main stage, you can also see Silke Schönfeld’s experimental documentary film ›Dacă plouă, nu mă plouă / If it rains, it doesn't rain on me‹ starting every full and half hour. This delightful film follows children and young people from Essen-Katernberg who are regular visitors to PACT’s satellite project space, the WerkStadt. The young protagonists and neighborhood experts, give viewers a sense of being both part of the group and also silent observers. Their seemingly inexhaustible energy finds expression in their own choreographies, loudly sung melodies from catchy pop songs, spontaneous drumming concerts and improvised soccer tournaments.

And last but certainly not least, Wim's Kochwerk will be on hand serving delicious food and drinks in our striking, family friendly foyer throughout the day.

PACT will be open from 11:00 – 17:00 h, so please drop by and join us!
