Have you ever imagined controlling adults by remote control, inventing your own sport, searching for miracles, making art out of fat, taking apart electrical devices? Now you can do all this and more in PLAYING UP. Children and adults alike can take part in activities where they do things for themselves, smell, feel, scream, and experience themselves in a completely different way.

PLAYING UP is a playful introduction to performance art for everyone aged 4 and over. The unusual format makes performance art understandable for children and adults and takes a fresh look at the art form.

Together with the BLAUER ELEFANT Zollverein Children's and Family Centre, the PACT Café warmly invites children and adults to experience art and the world in a new way on PACT's outdoor grounds. PLAYING UP is available in German and Turkish, but can also be translated into other languages, so no special language skills are required.

PLAYING UP was developed by Sibylle Peters, Artistic Director of Fundus Theatre - Theatre of Research in Hamburg. At the PACT Café, PLAYING UP is led by Negar Foroughanfar who is a performance artist and former student of Sibylle Peters.

PLAYING UP is an artwork by Sibylle Peters and Theatre of Research, exploring the potential of Live Art to bridge generations. Drawing on key Live Art themes and seminal works, PLAYING UP takes the form of a game played by adults and kids together.

PLAYING UP is a collaboration between Theatre of Research, Live Art Development Agency (LADA) and Tate Early Years and Family Programme.
