The question of whether plants can feel, think or communicate has long interested scientists. Recent findings suggest that humans are more similar to plants than we might think. The performance trio Deter/Müller/Martini explore how surprising similarities and fundamental differences between plants and humans can bring us into contact with other life forms. Is it possible to shift our human-centered worldview enough to start seeing and hearing the flora around us differently?

The audio piece on our website allows you to individually venture across the vegetated mining dump of Zeche Zollverein during our summer break in July and to experience this area on your own. Between the performative lecture and gentle approaches lies an experiment with an unknown outcome.

If you live far away from the mining dump, you can also do the audio stroll elsewhere. We recommend for you to pick an open space with many different types of plants.
