Vera Röhm

Vera Röhm (born in Landsberg am Lech in 1943). Studied visual arts at the ECAL, Lausanne. In the early 1970s she started combining materials, her series of works ›Ergänzungen‹ in 1975. In 1977 she conducted a photographic survey of Le Marais district in Paris, ›Stützwerke‹. In 1983 she designed the stage set for ›La nuit juste avant les forêts‹ by Bernard-Marie Koltès in Sigrid Herzog’s production for the Theater Festival in Munich. Since 1983 her artistic work has focused on the visual representation of time and motion, ›Topographie der Zeit‹. 1986 started the collaboration with Gerhard Bohner for his choreography ›Im (goldenen) Schnitt I‹, (Durch den Raum, durch den Körper) (›In the (golden) ratio I‹, (Through the space, through the body). 1989 first performance at the Akademie der Künste (Academy of the Arts) in Berlin. Vera Röhm has also consistently engaged in art in the public domain. She has enjoyed the distinction of receiving two national art prizes, her work forms part of numerous international collections and is on show at a large number of museums. She is regularly represented in exhibitions both in Germany and abroad. Vera Röhm lives in Darmstadt and Paris.
