Programme change: Originally, a reading by Svea Mausolf was planned for this edition of ›DUO:DO‹. Unfortunately, this has had to be postponed. Instead, BRACHE, a magazine for new literature from the Ruhr region, invites you to a reading and discussion.
Duo:Do is your evening out at PACT! On selected Thursdays we invite you to enjoy a reading and a concert in our foyer — for the perfect early start to the weekend, with drinks at the bar, inspiring texts and electrifying sounds.
BRACHE is a newspaper for new literature from the Ruhr region, founded in 2025. Its editorial team consists of Esra Canpalat, Julienne De Muirier and Lukas Hermann, and it offers a new platform for literary voices from the Ruhr region. It is published twice a year and is available free of charge. On October 23, author Miedya Mahmod and editorial team members Julienne De Muirier and Lukas Hermann will read from issue #1 of the newspaper, published in July 2025, and give a preview of the next issue, which will be published in winter 2025. Accompanying the reading, the bookshop from Essen, Proust, will set up a book table inviting visitors to browse and discover.
Afterwards, Laura Krieg takes us into her world of brutalist pop with silver glitter, drum machines and microphones: the Montreal-based singer and synthesiser musician has just released her second album, ‘Crepuscule’. Laura Krieg builds on the seductive dancefloor music of the early 80s, mixing cold synthesizers and deep electronic percussion with passionate vocals in English and French.
On 11 December, we continue with more beats and books: stay tuned!
