Electric Flux
A LONG SYNTHESIZER WEEKEND

  • Im Rahmen des Festivals NOW! Transit
  • Music
  • Fri 25.10.19Mon 28.10.19

Humanity has always been driven by curiosity and the desire to follow new paths and thus break with traditions and conventions. The title ›Transit‹of the Festival for New Music NOW! underlines western music tradition’s fresh departures and transformations in this year‘s programme. 20th century European music was characterised by formal, compositional and technological transitions. Together with the Zollverein Foundation and in cooperation with the Institute for Computer Music and Electronic Media (ICEM) of Folkwang University of the Arts, PACT is devoting a full weekend to analogue and digital sound transformations. The centrepiece of the four-day programme are synthesizers made by the Hofschneider company, which were conceived specifically for the electronic ›alienation‹ of instrumental sounds. For the first time since their installation in 1971, the three units can be experienced in concerts and interactive workshops outside of the Folkwang University.

Organisers: PACT Zollverein, Stiftung Zollverein with Folkwang University of the Arts Supported by Kunststiftung NRW
