Accessibility

Overview

PACT Zollverein should be accessible to everyone. To achieve this goal, we are continuously working on identifying barriers and removing them as best we can.

On this page, we provide information about the accessibility on site and offer an overview of measures that have been taken so far to make your visit more accessible.

If you have any requirements on site, suggestions for improvement, or clues on barriers, please do not hesitate to contact us by email or telephone.

Barrier-free services

Early Boarding

Early boarding refers to the earlier admission to the auditorium. This service is for everybody who wishes to familiarise themselves with the venue in advance and find a suitable seat for their own needs. With this service, we want to make the admission more relaxed for everyone, especially visitors with visible or invisible disabilities.

Relaxed Performance

With the service Relaxed Performance, we want to welcome all visitors for whom sitting still for long periods of time in performance venues is a barrier. This includes, for example, people with autism, Tourette's syndrome, learning difficulties or chronic pain. The aim is to create a more relaxed event atmosphere. The service is offered for selected events and includes, among other things:

• The Relaxed Performance will be announced before the event begins.
• Noises and movements from the audience are explicitly welcome.
• Visitors may leave the auditorium at any time and return later.

Audio description

Audio description is available for selected performances. Audio descriptions make performances accessible to blind and visually impaired people. During the performance, the action on stage is described via wireless headphones. This gives blind and visually impaired people access to the visual elements of a performance. Among other things, movement, gestures, facial expressions, stage design, costumes and props are described.

Haptic access tour

Before a performance with audio description, there may also be a haptic access tour. During a haptic access tour, blind and visually impaired people can explore the stage area by touch. After a detailed and precise description of the objects in the room, participants can feel them one by one.

Sensory stimuli

We endeavour to provide advance information about any requirements that may be imposed on the audience during performances at PACT. This includes information about various sensory stimuli such as light, noise, smells, or the use of special stage effects such as fog and strobe lighting, which may be potentially triggering. Transparent communication allows visitors to decide for themselves whether a performance is accessible to them.

Information about sensory stimuli can be found directly on the event pages.

Content Notes

We endeavour to provide advance information about various potentially triggering content that is addressed, shown or performed in the performances at PACT. We provide this information directly on the respective event pages. Transparent communication about this enables potential visitors to decide for themselves whether a performance is accessible to them.

Please note that it is unfortunately not always possible to provide information on all productions, as some of them are still in the development process until they are performed at PACT.

We are happy to offer you the opportunity to contact us before your visit to the event to request information about specific triggers. We will then get in touch with the respective productions and provide you with the information if possible. We endeavour to respond to all enquiries.
