On the left is the red cover of Canberk Köktürk's book “Fascholand.” His name is written in black at the top. Below that is an eye in green and black. Underneath that, in large black letters, is written “FASCHOLAND.” At the bottom left, in small green letters, is the prase “Wir sind hier immer noch in Deutschland” written . Next to the book cover on the right is a portrait of Canberk Köktürk. He has short, dark hair and a beard. He is wearing a brown shirt over a blue T-shirt and a silver necklace.

›Duo:Do‹ at PACT is the perfect end to hard day’s work! As part of this popular series, we invite you to attend readings and concerts in the lobby of the former colliery on specific Thursdays. Drinks at the bar, inspiring lyrics and electrifying sounds all mean that Thursday already feels a bit like the weekend.

We’ll be kicking off next year’s programme on March 5 with author Canberk Köktürk, author and child of a Turkish migrant worker family in the Ruhr area, who has written for newspapers, TV and internet formats. In ›Fascholand‹, he embarks on an autobiographical-investigative journey through a Germany that teaches fear not only to people with a history of migration: hatred, rabble-rousing, a swing to the right and racism are poisoning the country, and Köktürk’s witty tone, shot through with biting humour, helps us to understand how dangerous the situation has become.

The reading will be followed by a concert with Violet Heat from Cologne. The band, formerly known as Vomit Heat, heats things up with alternative sounds.

On 25 June, we’ll continue our programme with beats and books – including the postponed reading with meme queen Svea Mausolf.
