26 years ago Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker created ›Rosas danst Rosas‹. The production which signaled both her international breakthrough and the official inauguration of the ROSAS company, was originally danced by Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker, Michèle Anne De Mey, Fumiyo Ikeda and Nadine Ganase. Now firmly established as a classic, the piece has been learned by generations of ROSAS dancers and performed countless times around the world. Today Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker once again takes up her original role alongside three members of the second generation, Sue-Yeon Youn, Tale Dolven and Elizaveta Penkova.

At first in silence and later to music composed by Thierry De Mey and Peter Vermeersch, ›Rosas danst Rosas‹ prefigures the tensions that characterise Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker’s work, these being the contrast between rational structure and meaningful emotion, the dialectic between aggression and tenderness, the interaction between unison and counterpoint, and between uniformity and individuality.
