What does the future look like from the perspective of young people? The exhibition ›Archiving Future‹ brings together artistic works by twelve teenagers and young adults from the Ruhr region. They use photography, video, projections, sound and interactive installations to explore what will remain of our present in the future.

Which moments of everyday life will be remembered?
How do cultural traditions change?
And what images shape our ideas about the future?

Each work opens up its own perspective on these questions. The participants engage with identity, cultural heritage, digital traces and the things that surround us in everyday life. They ask which stories, objects and gestures we choose to preserve, pass on or reinterpret. The result is an archive rich with diverse voices, combining personal experiences with visions of the future.

The works were created over the course of four workshop weekends, during which the participants experimented together with students and experts from the fields of photography and sound, and developed their own artistic approaches. The exhibition invites visitors to engage with the visions of the future of a younger generation and to reflect on what kind of future we would like to shape together.

A project by the Ruhrtriennale in collaboration with Folkwang Pupils' Art Lab, an initiative of Folkwang University of the Arts.
