In her production ›Pulling Strings‹ first presented last year at PACT Zollverein and now returning as part of the programme of the puppet theatre festival FIDENA, artist Eva Meyer-Keller quite literally takes the strings into her own hands: Against a musical backdrop of well known compositions including Prokofiev’s ›Romeo and Juliet‹ or Strawinsky’s ›Sacre du Printemps‹, an eclectic cast of commonplace and normally unseen theater objects such as gaffer tape, extension cables, microphones, a bucket, tea bags, or a broom all begin to develop a life of their own at the hands of the performers. Although the mechanics are simple and plain to see, the result is a unique feat of imagination and magical intricacy.
