Artificial intelligence is changing our lives and increasingly determining our ideas about the future. It is imagined either as supporting humans or as dominating them. Using everyday examples and artistic projects, experts Francis Hunger and Natalie Sontopski discuss myths and metaphors of artificial »intelligence« and classify it as a statistical, parameterized machine. They also argue for a historical view that makes clear that AI is not new, but has been researched since the 1950s.
