On May 26, Victoria Shen will be performing at PACT Zollverein – presented by Sound Practice Research.
Victoria Shen is a San Francisco based sound artist and performer of experimental music. In her artistic practice, she explores the spatiality and physicality of sound and its relationship to the human body. Although analog modular synthesizers form the backbone of Shen’s music, she works in her live performances with vinyl and resin records, self-built electronic instruments, and acoustic objects of all kinds. Her sound – constantly oscillating between moments of restraint and swells of frenetic and confrontational movement – defies the conventions of harmony and rhythm in favor of extreme textures and gestural sounds.
