Der Nachttisch Sigmund Freuds als Echo is a public space project in the inner city of Essen. Empty shop windows, rendered into a kind of redundancy that refers at once to the past and the future, are transformed into art and performance venues. Vacant standing premises, the onetime handling centres for goods and profit, are occupied by art. In this context, what value do we give to a product that's not for sale?
