Political dimensions of dance mediation - How do we set ourselves in motion?

Artistic practices create open spaces for action. Dance art and dance mediation implies political dimensions in addition to aesthetic-artistic ones. When dance productions take on social aspects, they reveal political connections and can offer a platform for critical examination of socio-political questions. They can be links to social participation and bring together and empower different groups of people.

The conference is specifically dedicated to the participatory and inclusive potential of dance: What strategies and methods can dance and its mediation offer us in promoting civic engagement? Where are the gaps - gaps in knowledge, blind spots or unused potential? Jointly organized by Aktion Tanz e. V. and the Federal Agency for Civic Education, the conference nears these questions through a mix of theoretical input and examples of research approaches used in artistic practices.
