Urban Arts Ensemble & Chey Jurado

What happens when the social fabric breaks down and bodies are revealed in all their isolation and fragility?

Under the direction of award-winning choreographer Chey Jurado, the Urban Arts Ensemble Ruhr embarks on a collective journey through ruptures and disruptions, through the disorientation and the silence of the moment following the big explosion. ›Isolated‹ is a radical exploration of a world of increasing alienation, in which loss and isolation define our shared reality – not as a lack of company, but as a profound physical experience that is inscribed in every movement.

Jurado, who started out as a self-taught dancer in the hip-hop and breaking scene, abandons the ensemble’s usual movement patterns in favour of his innovative choreographic approach: Through the interplay of weight, space and immateriality, a raw physicality emerges that really gets under your skin.
