What does it mean to come of age within a system of imposed rituals, and how can these rituals be rewritten as forms of self-affirmation?

›Quinceañeras‹ departs from the traditional Latin American ritual of the fifteenth birthday — the symbolic transition from girlhood to womanhood. In this celebration, rooted in colonial influences and reinvented meanings, Estefanía Álvarez Ramírez and Luisa Fernanda Alfonso explore how traditions can be both restrictive and liberating.

The two Colombian artists, who live in Europe, approach this theme from the perspective of migrants. Their friendship has fueled their creative process: with trust, care, and playfulness, they explore new forms of female representation. Through dance and music, they transform the stage into a hybrid space where excess, emotion, nostalgia, and absences intertwine.
