The choreographers Cecilia Bengolea and François Chaignaud are experts at bringing together and composing with different dance styles that are deeply rooted in specific cultures.  In their latest work ›DFS‹, a continuation on ›Dancehall Polyphony‹ which was a commission for the TanzTheater Wuppertal Pina Bausch, they create a very special kind of culture clash by confronting Georgian vocal polyphony with Jamaican Dancehall music which has its origins in the urban ghettos of Kingston and remains to this day an expression of opposition against repressive ideologies. The result is an intricately detailed composition that builds on the synchronism of polyphonic a cappella songs and folk dances and subtly unites the expressive possibilities, energies, sounds and physicalities of two completely different cultural languages in new and unforeseen dialogues.
