Shifting Grounds – IN COMMON

On the second day of ›Shifting Grounds – IN COMMON‹ festival, the slag heap will serve as an open space for exploration and festival activities throughout the day. Scattered across the site, individual islands emerge, forming the unifying framework of the day with workshops by local dancing, a coffee ceremony with Clarisse Akouala, poetry and literary contributions by Orliane Kamwa Kemadjou and BRACHE, and a concert by Nadzeya Karakulka. Visitors can go their own ways, linger, and experience the site at their own pace.

The slag heap will also be the site of performances: In Deva Schubert’s ›GLITCH CHOIR‹, a fragmented lament serves as the starting point for a space of multi-resonance. Voices and bodies distort and transform – navigating intimacy, vulnerability, and resistance. The Sound Practice Research Collective (students of the Folkwang University of the Arts) will acoustically activate the slag heap during the festival with a sound installation distributed across the site. In the evening, this culminates in an expansive sound performance utilizing the specially developed SKIA system, which enables an extreme spatialization of sounds.

On the PACT stage, Radouan Mriziga explores deserts as geographies of wisdom. In ›Magec / the Desert‹, rhythm, text, movement and sound combine to form a polyphony of perspectives on humanity, nature, and knowledge.
