Japanese artist Naoko Tanaka’s Shadow Trilogy consists of the three installation performances ›Die Scheinwerferin‹ (2011), ›Absolute Helligkeit‹ (2012) and ›Unverinnerlicht‹ (2015) which explore the boundaries of visual arts and scenographic installation. The protagonist in all three works is a single source of light which travels like a self-directed eye through time and space. Journeying from the far reaches of the universe to the microscopically detailed depths of existence to the midst of a radioactively contaminated classroom in Fukushima, Tanaka’s trilogy summons up hidden longings, memories, mysterious cosmic laws, wonder and amazement.
