Dance / performance - one solo in three variations

With ›(Untitled) (2000)‹ award winning artist Tino Sehgal depicts an image of a world where dance and choreography can inspire a society. Originally conceived for the stage and danced by Sehgal himself, the solo remains in cultural memory as a ›museum of dance‹ – a museum containing movements and gestures of iconic dance styles rather than objects. Now, 14 years later, the bodies of three dancers confront the history of 20th century dance with the architecture of postindustrial landscapes. With the mere presence of their bodies (with no musical accompaniment or set), Andrew Hardwidge, Frank Willens, and Boris Charmatz allow new readings and interpretations of space to emerge. What is the task of theaters or museums in a society? Has the obsession for objects, for material values reached its end?
