»My name is Koloto Siraji, a Ugandan contemporary artist and researcher. My practice explores the bagisu philosophies of dance and art. My work traverses installation, film and performance.

During my residency at PACT, I was questioning the nature of a living body from the perspective of an African. This involved reflecting on my own childhood traumas and transgenerational conflicts as well as looking at an African body as an archive of transgenerational history. How do I contain the energies that were passed on to me by my ancestors? How do I live with past traumas in the present? As humans, we are constantly seeking to find a tribe to belong to – one that just lets us be and celebrates us. As part of the Art tribe, the residency at PACT gave me the creative freedom to best approach these questions and ideas.«
