›Shifting Grounds‹ - PACT Zollverein's transdisciplinary summer festival - premiered on Thursday, July 3, in summery temperatures. This year, the festival explored themes from the fields and intersections of art, society and ecology. The mining heap on the grounds of the Zollverein colliery was placed at the center as a venue and future laboratory.
The artistic works by Mascha Fehse, Sergiu Matis, Daniel Kötter and Marlene Helling were developed, adapted or expanded specifically for this site. Visitors were furthermore invited to get to know the slag heap during picnics, botanical tours, performances and discussions – with Anna Lowenhaupt Tsing, Iazmin Al-Qaisi, Maria Cecília Rocha, Carlina Rossée and Tonio Flores, among others – to question traditional narratives and develop new practices.
