Naoko Tanaka

Naoko Tanaka creates new references to the ever more violent intertwining of nature and culture. She researches non-human creatures living in big cities: trees, insects and birds, which have adapted for coexistence and survival in the urban space. In addition, she also looks at »nature function beings« in folk beliefs and oral histories from different cultural circles. Tanaka hypothetically designs imaginative (urban) landscapes that open up a perspective outside of anthropocentricism.
