Vera Mantero

Vera Mantero (PT) was born in Lisbon in 1966. She studied classical dance and subsequently worked for five years with the Gulbenkian Ballet in Lisbon. She then went on to study contemporary dance, voice and theatre in New York and Paris. In 1987, she started creating her own work which she has since presented at theatres and festivals in Europe, Brazil, USA, Canada and Singapore. In 1999 the Theatre Culturgest in Lisbon organized a retrospective of her work.She regularly participates in international improvisation projects and teaches creation/composition and improvisation workshops. Since 2000, she has dedicated herself increasingly to voice and other music projects.

In 2002, Vera Mantero was awarded the Almada Prize (IPAE/Ministry of Culture) for her career as a performer and choreographer.
