was born in Switzerland in 1967 and trained at the Rotterdamse Dansacademie. He danced with Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker’s company ROSAS as well as with Gonnie Hegers, David Zambrano and Pierre Droulers before founding his own company ZOO in Brussels in 1997, with whom he has since investigated in numerous pieces the body’s potential for movement, the dynamic links between a group in space and the relationship between dance and music. As early as 1998 he won the author prize and the Jan Fabre Prize at the Rencontres chorégraphiques internationales de Seine-Saint-Denis for Cows in Space. In 2005 he was awarded the Swiss Dance and Choreography Prize for modify. He has also developed internationally recognized teaching techniques and gives workshops at P.A.R.T.S. in Brussels. ZOO \ Thomas Hauert were last seen at PACT Zollverein in 2008 with the world premiere of Accords.
