Eszter Salamon is a choreographer, artist and performer. She lives and works between Berlin, Paris, and Budapest. Since 2001, she has been creating solo and group works that have been presented in performing arts venues and festivals throughout the world including Centre Pompidou, Avignon Festival, Ruhrtriennale, The Kitchen New York, HAU Berlin, Berlin Documentary Forum, Kunstenfestivaldesarts Brussels, Kaaitheater Brussels, Festival dʼAutomne Paris, Tanzquartier Wien, Holland Festival, Kampnagel Hamburg, steirischer herbst graz, Dance Triennale Tokyo and here at PACT.

She is frequently invited to present her work in museums, including MoMa, Witte de With, and Fondation Cartier. Her exhibition Eszter Salamon 1949 was presented in 2015 at Jeu de Paume as part of ›Satellite‹ curated by Natasa Petresin-Bachelez.

Eszter Salamonʼs work revolves around choreography employed as a means of navigating between different media such as sound, text, voice, image, bodily movement and actions. In 2014, she started working on a series of works exploring both the notion of monument and the practice of ‘rewriting’ history and dance history. The first work in the series ›MONUMENT 0: HAUNTED BY WARS (1913-2013)‹ was presented at PACT during the Ruhrtriennale in 2014 and the second, ›Monument 0.1: ›Valda & Gus‹ premiered here in 2015. The third in the series, ›Wars & Dances‹ was presented by PACT in 2017 in the SANAA building on the Zollverein complex. As part of the Tanzplattform Deutschland 2018 ›MONUMENT 0.5: The Valeska Gert Monument‹ was presented at PACT.
