The Japanese collective Chim↑Pom, also known as the subversive satirical heart of Japan’s art scene, creates videos, exhibitions, films, performances and unexpected interventions in public spaces in critical response to pressing social and political issues. The freethought collective comes together in public research, public study and the constitution of discursive and creative platforms. Its current research revolves around ‘Infrastructure’ and the efforts to counter the material and technocratic understanding of infrastructural systems with subjectivity, affect and desire. Mediator and conflict analyst Dana Caspersen, works with physical and mental response strategies that facilitate new and flexible approaches to understanding and alleviating conflict situations.

IMPACT17 offers participants from broad fields of the arts and sciences, time and space for critical discourse, interventions and practical experiments. Of central interest during this year’s edition is the question of the transferability of particular approaches and systems to other contexts.
